Last night I had another attempt at explaing the history and theoretical background of Industrial to a friend. at one point I was really thinking about just how cool it would be to do this properly, you know like the multitalented [profile] tryste, do an hour-long lecture or two on industríal, properly and intelligently, with a few tracks to back it up. I still think that it would be majorly cool, but the longer I was trying to explain it, the harder I found it and I don't know if I did a very good job. But then, I wasn't really prepared and only had a few CDs with me, so it was always going to be a challenge. How do you get from "Mission of Dead Souls" to "Volk und Armee" and still keep it all intelligible?
And I did not even get to cover Terror EBM, Coldwave or Future Pop in any shape or form and possibly a bit more could have been said on EBM in general. Next time will really need a lot more preparing and working out of a mission plan.
Perhaps then I can finally bring the joy of noise to more people.
That would make me very happy, very happy indeed.

Maybe you SHOULD study industrial! Universities here are certainly cheap enough and there's not been nearly enough work done on industrial music. And you definitely have the cognitive and writing skills to write a brilliant thesis.

Well, yeah... But I am still a bit unclear on the what and how. That thesis was good as a first "scout" of the whole subject matter, but I think that I would have to find something a little more specific to explore for my masterpiece.

Incidentally, how is yours going?

What are you unclear on? How and where to apply, what about industrial music to do research on? Well, apart from what Collins did, I haven't seen any other studies. The field is WIIIIIIIDE open!

Mine is ... going. I realised Friday I'm over 1/8th done, word-wise. But I have SO much more to do ... and to get everything done on time, I'm going to have to really work hard. We're talking about 5000 words a month. Not to mention all the reading and interviewing I still have to do.

PS I completely blew M'era Luna. No new contacts made for questionnaire and interview. If you know anyone in Berlin who'd be willing to help me, please let my sucky self know.
