What is one to do when you feel the urge to go to the movies but don't really want to watch "Brüno" or "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"?

Incidentally, I really liked Marcus Brigstocke's alternative headline about Michael Jackson's death on last week's Now Show:
"Michael Jackson dead. It's a bit sad but not really surprising. Real news to follow."

I mean, you couldn't really imagine that guy living to be a wrinkly avuncular 80-year-old, could you?

It's The Eight of May, the Eight of May!

(Blame [livejournal.com profile] snapesbabe, if you need someone to blame, although I don't think she really cares if you do.)

Now stop whining and get moshing!

A short documentary on the Amen Break , quite possibly the most widely utilised drum loop in modern electronic music. Chances are you will have heard it before lots of times.
And even if you are not interested in this six-second cornerstone, I recommend you listen to this as it makes some very good points about the way that copyright in music has been handled in the past and is handled now and what this means for future musicians wanting to use samples from existing musical works in their music.
(Thanks go to P-A-L, who posted this on his Myspace)

:-D I could not resist. Never has blasphemy sounded so uplifting.

(Contains strong language and blasphemy. So if you are not hot on either, listen to something else instead.)

Enjoy.

Nine Inch Noëls

Warning: Might make your brain melt. Also contains an expletive.

Dear everybody, on behalf of the whole german music-hearing nation, I would like to apologize for this clip, this woman and this.... travesty.

And apparently, Lars approves of this version. o_O

That's it. I'm listening to Slayer today.

Our often reliable and mostly very attractive sources bring news of a new Faderhead video (taken from the up and soon to be coming album "FH3". Go and hassle your local dealer on Oct 10th*)
And seeing that we have actually met some of the people gyrating in this video, we feel it is our duty to spread the word.

Play it loud!

*And if you like the music, go and buy the album. Lars Ulrich may not notice if you download "Death Magnetic" and share it with all your friends, but Mr. FH will know if you do the same thing with "FH3". Don't make him sad. It looks great when he smiles. :-D

Support your musicians!

Erm, what?

I am not entirely certain whether this is cool or a travesty:

Yeah, don't give up your day-job. (Top marks for effort, though):

Psssssst!

I mean, I am not saying that you might want to check out this website:
http://www.alles-wieder-offen.com/

I mean, you probably don't find news of a new Einstürzende Neubauten-album all that exciting and you probably especially don't want to know about the possibility of downloading a track from that album.

Who would?

;-P

Some people are very, very odd. And have lots of time on their hands.

Why did I not realise at the time that most of the music in Doom and Doom 2 was based on metal records?

Oh, that's right: Because I didn't know most of the records back then. :-)
Still, very cool in hindsight.

It is common knowledge that practically every double-album might be much improved if the musicians responsible had taken the time and afforded themselves the modesty to admit that the whole thing would be a lot better as a normal album. (Unreasonable Claim No. 325)

So here is your chance: Come up with a playlist for any double/triple/etc. album that you feel might be a whole lot better if there wasn't quite as much of it. Obvious contestants are "Use your illusion", "Load/Re-Load" and "Musick to play in the dark", but I am totally open for suggestions. :-)

I am looking forward to joining you finally )

Done this one before, let's see if the film is any better this time round.

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle.
3. Press play.
4. For every question, type the song that's playing.
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button.
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool.

Opening Credits:
Deichkind - Pferd im Stall Not bad. Weird german hip hop. (How weird? Well, weird enough for me to listen to it.) I can imagine credits rolling over that. This film might have a drug theme.

Waking Up:
Sickness of Snakes - The Pope held upside down
That is not a happy waking up. Or very dirty surroundings.

An Ordinary Day:
Imperative Reaction - Salvation
And after the horrible waking up, we now have a rather hectic day. I think this really might turn into a more extreme version of "Human Traffic".

Falling in Love:
Einstürzende Neubauten - Für wen sind die Blumen?
Aw, that's quite cute. Title means "Who are the flowers for?" Might be more drugs or just a cappucino at a café.

The Rumble:
M. Jackson vs. Ray Parker jr. - Bad Ghostbusters
Undoubtedly a sequence that will still be quoted in 20 years time. ;-)

The Break-up:
Linea 77 - Headtide
Hearts are not the only thing broken that day.

Getting Back Together:
3 cold men - Crossed waters
Very 80s. I see a white rose and a black hat falling to the floor in slow-motion.

Life's Okay:
Front 242 - Flag
And life is back to normal. In other words, we are wired again.

The Mental Breakdown:
Atrox - Mad for a reason
Perfect!

Cruising:
Imperative Reaction - Alone

The Flashback:
Covenant - Edge of Dawn
Not an acid-flashback, that's for sure.

The Frat Party:
VNV Nation - Darkangel
Frat-boys love Ronan. Ronan carries a sword and likes burgers. "I only came here seeking beer."

Everybody Dance Now:
Snow Patrol - Make this go on forever
Okay, so this is the last slow dance of the evening, with our heroes slowly moving around the floor. Awwwwwww!

Regretting:
Coil - The restitution of decayed intelligence II
Regret goes hand in hand with hearing voices.

The Long Night Alone:
Kidneythieves - Feathers
Not coping well with being alone.

A Death:
New Fast Automatic Daffodils - PSV
Whoever died, died happy.

End Credits:
Shizuka - Le Reseau
There is definitely going to be a sequel.

I wonder how many people went to buy a CD by Catatonia and accidentally came home with one by Katatonia? Or the other way round?
And would they feel disappointed or pleasantly surprised?

I would just like to share a song that massively entertained me at the club last night. It's fantastic, it rocks, you will not get the song out of your head all day long and it even has a message! So, here and now, just for you:
Knorkator

I know that chances aren't great, but one of you would not happen to have a copy of the "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" soundtrack? Or be able to point me in the way of a helpful torrent? ;-)
Oh, the soundtrack to the 1974 Tobe Hooper original, not the nu-metal compilation, please.
von_geisterhand: (the geisterhand)
Sepultura! *moshes madly*
Wahahahahahahahahaha!

One of the things that makes these days a little better. :-)
von_geisterhand: (Default)
Has your life not been full enough already?

Because this is just wrong. Plain wrong. But disturbingly amusing.
Somebody help me! Please!

von_geisterhand: (Default)
Tori, Kate, Amanda, thank you for brightening my day. :-)
Although the Tool-boys were allowed to help.
