Hey, look, there are some Americans over there, having no clue what they're talking about, but doing so in panicky tones! Yes, because Slipknot, Andrew W. K. and Merzbow are clearly all the same genre.
Allow me to just quote my favourite bits:

Whitehouse- Whitehouse is probably one of the most offensive and popular Noise bands of all time, they have influenced a many who are currently involved. I cannot even go into details about this band, they are the most misogynist, hateful, racist, offensive band around. If your child has any Whitehouse CDs, stop everything and please think of getting them professional help (I suggest Military School over therapy's psycho-babble). They are the pioneers of the genre called Power Electronics or Harsh Noise, which Ii might add is embraces the most degenerate aspects of human behavior. They have been under investigation by authorities and ties to white power organizations.

Merzbow- Merzbow is the most well know of the 'Japanese noise' bands. Japanese noise uses a mix of technology, sex, nihilism, occult themes and violence to further the aims of this . While Merzbow may not be as overtly offensive in content -as say C.C.C.C. who is a japanese band comprised entirely of prostitutes and porn stars who have sex with audience members on stage. The 'music' is extremely void of any musical content, this music is very slick and will atract not only intellectuals but metal fans. Merzbow has been performing since the 1970s and has ties to the Animal Liberation Front, who are labeled as a terrorist organization by the FBI.
