Strange people on the Potsdamer Platz

As if all the tourists weren't enough, you now get these odd individuals on the Potsdamer Platz.
Him
and his charming wife:
.
And another couple, to be precise, but there were too many people there to photograph them. These headless couples are part of an art installation created by none other than one of the greatest directors ever, Mr. T. Gilliam. (
carnaaki goes "Ah, of course!").
The funky thing is that they don't just stand there in a useless manner, but you can actually stick your head inside their empty collars, like this.
.
After you have done so, you get to watch a small screen in there, on which film loops of the Potsdamer Platz in various stages of destruction and construction ares hown. But, even better, while you watch those, your face is being photographed and will be displayed on a huge screen on the side of a building after nightfall. (No photos of that yet, but I will take some next time I am up there). Now that's what I call art.

And now for something slightly different, but totally what the fuck?, OH YES!: http://www.dailyllama.com/news/2006/llama312.html

Date: 2006-05-23 07:09 am (UTC)Unfortunately I wouldn't stick my head in the empty collars, that above picture is too disturbing. You see, it brings to mind the Gilliam cartoon of the old woman with the pram that eats anyone who looks in there. Now that would be a cool art installation!
Thanks for this, really impressed!
