Book geek joy

And as if I didn't know already that Neil Gaiman is just unbelievably fantastic, I now find out that, when in Germany, he entertains himself by making up poems about Martin Semmelrogge.
I need to do that, instead of just grinning like a loonie and going "Der Wasserdruck".
On a similarly geeky note, I just love the way they designed "The ladies of Grace Adieu" to look like a hand-bound antique volume, all uneven pages and thick pages. That is nearly as fantastic as the way they used format in "House of Leaves".

Oh, oh, oh, and it would appear that Iain Banks has a new book out. But then, I haven't even gotten around to reading "The Algebraist" yet. On the other hand, I have given in to my old vice again and picked up cheap copies of "Canal Dreams" and "Consider Phlebas", which should keep me quiet for a little while.

Well, embossed cloth-bound hardcover sounds about right, but the pages on the edition I saw (sadly, I do not own it) were of varying width, which looks as if they had been cut by hand.

The pages are all even but the paper's nice.
